On the Arcadia Stage
October 13 – December 4, 2016   EXTENDED BY POPULAR DEMAND!

He's young, he's broke, he's just found out his wife is going to have a baby, and now Casey has lost his gig as an Elvis impersonator. When his club brings in a drag act led by Miss Tracy Mills, Casey is given the opportunity to trade one sequined outfit for another. With Dito van Reigersberg of Martha Graham Cracker fame as Tracy, this music-filled comedy celebrates finding your voice and singing your own song.

Running Time: 1 hour and 45 minutes, no intermission

Critical Acclaim -

“This play is stomp-your-feet, snap-your-fingers, clap-your-hands, singalong joy."

"A warmhearted celebration of the American dream and the power of transformation"

"A pop music-kissed score and an eye-popping wardrobe closet"
- The Philadelphia Inquirer Read more here

"Fabulous. If a one-word review would do it, that would be the word."

"Let me tell you about how much fun you’re going to have at The Legend of Georgia McBride"
- Broad Street Review Read more here

"Filled with caustic humor, glitz, and music, and witty references to A Star Is Born, The Sound of Music, and The Crying Game, the spirited show sends out a positive message about the need for acceptance and finding your own voice, even under the most challenging of circumstances."

"The Legend of Georgia McBride provides an evening of over-the-top fun."

"It’s all about the joy of acceptance!"

"The pace is fast and the blocking is fluid. The characters, in spectacularly tacky (spectackylar!) costumes by Olivera Gajic, move from home to dressing room to curtained club stage, through Set and Sound Designer Jorge Cousineau’s multi-layered movable flats and a soundtrack of pop and disco hits, all brought into focus by Maria Shaplin’s well-aligned lighting."

"Lopez’s script (is) funny as all hell."

"Entertaining."

"Emmanuelle Delpech as director navigates the euphoric highs and high-tension lows of GEORGIA MCBRIDE expertly"

"Costume designer Olivera Gajic’s chic and sometimes outrageous drag costumes and wigs complete the show’s vibrant aesthetic"
- Phindie Read more here

"An evening filled with joy and expectation"

"The fine cast of actors…take us along on a journey we will not soon forget."
- Philly Gay Calendar Read more here

"A hilarious and engaging show."

"The entire ensemble cast is fabulous."

"An outstanding night of pure fun."
- Beyond My Backyard Read more here

"Director Emmanuelle Delpech delivers a visually imaginative production (kudos especially to Jorge Cousineau’s revolving door set) with plenty of sparkle."

"Scammell is an appealing and very sexy actor, who throws himself fully into the title role (and frequently appears in his underwear, which is welcome sight.")

"An entertaining celebration of drag performance that’s always in a major key."
